BLACK HISTORY

New Perspectives on History

Real Talk provides a number of options for Black History. We provide an array of exclusive Black History topics, focusing on the experiences of African people globally and the rarely discussed history of the African diaspora in Canada.

Too often, Black History is associated with prominent figures of African descent in North American history. Despite the rich history of black people across all continents in the world, the stories of people in the African diaspora outside of a western context has been neglected to be told. Real Talk’s Black History portal, is a a robust repository of Black History that ranges from ancient history to contemporary issues.

Some of the topics in our Black History portal includes:

  • Black History: A Canadian Perspective
  • African Interpreters and Early European Explorers
  • Who were the Moors of Europe?
  • The Indus Valley Civilization: The African Roots of India
  • Hannibal of Carthage: White Washing African History
  • Black Canadians and First Nations Relations
  • The Jamaican Maroons of Nova Scotia
  • Ancient Kemet: The Foundation of Western Civilization?
